Know Jesus

Have you recently made the decision to say “Yes” to Jesus?  Or are you wondering what it means to know Jesus and have a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ?

We want to help you as you take this step of faith, answer some of your questions, and give you some resources to help guide you on the path of following Jesus.

First, we want to simply explain what it means to have a faith relationship with God.  You may have heard the phrases, “get saved” or “ask Jesus into your heart” or something like that.  Following Jesus is as simple and complicated as this…allowing God to have complete reign of your life…choosing to allow Jesus to be the forgiver of your sins and the leader of your life.  It means…

Admitting that you have sinned (done stuff that God hasn’t wanted you to do) and that you experience separation from God as a result. You also recognize that you can’t fix your own sin predicament.  The Bible teaches us, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Romans 3:23

Accepting the Truth about who Jesus is and what He did on the cross.  The Bible also teaches, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

Confessing your belief in Jesus as the forgiver of your sins and leader of your life.  Again, the Bible tells us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Changing your direction (moving toward the path God has for you), changing your character (by learning to live like Jesus) and changing your world (by sharing your faith with others).  In the Bible we read, “Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” Acts 3:19

The greatest news in the world is this, when Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
